We keep as little as the site can work with. No analytics, no ad networks, no third party trackers, and nothing sold to anyone. This page lists everything that is actually stored.
What you hand over
Three things, and only when you choose to do them.
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your X handle | When you sign in with X | It is the name your Gekido and your Quest spot are held against. |
| Your drawing | When you forge and verify a post | The wall re-forges your Gekido from your own strokes, so they are stored with the entry. |
| Your wallet address | When you claim a Quest spot | It is the address the spot belongs to. |
We never ask for an email address, a password, a private key or a seed phrase. Nobody from the collective will ever ask you for one either.
What we deliberately do not keep
Signing in with X gives us an access token. We use it once, to read your username, and then throw it away. It is never written to disk. The site cannot post as you, read your private messages, or see who you follow, because it never holds the credential that would let it.
Your IP address is used in memory to rate limit claims and votes, so one person cannot flood them. It is not written to the database.
What is public
The wall is public by design. Your X handle, your Gekido, its traits and its like count are all visible to anyone who visits. Wallet addresses are not shown on the wall, but a blockchain address is public information by its nature, so treat it accordingly.
Stored in your browser
Your work in progress lives in your own browser, not on our servers, so you can close the tab and come back to it.
| Key | Holds | Where |
|---|---|---|
| gekido.progress.v1 | Your seed, a small copy of your drawing, your strokes and your verified post | localStorage |
| gekido.voter.v1 | A random id, so a like can be toggled back off | localStorage |
Clearing site data in your browser wipes both. See the cookie page for the cookies themselves.
Who else is involved
X handles sign in, and we read public posts through their public embed endpoint to check your forge tag. Their terms and privacy policy apply to your X account.
Vercel hosts the site and, like any host, processes the requests that reach it.
Fonts are served from this domain rather than fetched from a font provider, so loading a page does not tell anyone else that you did.
Getting your data removed
Message @gekidocollectiv from the account the entry was made with and we will delete the entry, the claim, or both. We ask from the same account because that is the only way we can tell it is yours.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that affects what is stored, the date at the top changes with it.
